Curiosity Desk does not ask readers to create an account. A reader may choose to contact us by email, in which case we receive the information included in that message.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand broad patterns such as which stories are read and how visitors find the site. Analytics storage is off unless a visitor selects "Allow analytics" in our privacy notice. Visitors can instead choose "Necessary only". Advertising storage, ad-user data and ad personalisation remain disabled.

We may introduce Google AdSense after the site is approved. If advertising is activated, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies or similar technology to serve and measure ads, including ads based on a reader's previous visits where consent and local law allow. Readers can manage personalised Google advertising through Google Ads Settings.

Before advertising is enabled, we will activate the additional consent controls and disclosures required for a visitor's region. We will not ask readers to consent to advertising storage while advertising remains off.

Information retained

Analytics reports are used in aggregated form to improve story selection and site performance. Email messages may be retained for an appropriate business record, to respond to the sender and to protect the publication from abuse. We do not sell reader contact details.
